When I was doing my weekly shopping I saw that strawberries are fully available again. One of my favourite desserts is a classic one and it is called Strawberries Romanoff. It looks fantastic, tastes great, is a light dessert and very easy to make. All you need is a blender, which most people have in their kitchen.
Strawberries Romanoff
Ingredients: serves 4
1000 gr. Strawberries
3 cl vodka
3cl grandmarnier
150 gr. sugar
100 ml cream
100 ml f vanilla ice cream
Preparation:
Clean the strawberries wash and dry them carefully in a strainer and a piece of kitchen towel.
Take half of the strawberries, cut them in half and marinate them in the vodka, sugar and Gran Marnier for 15 minutes.
Put the marinated strawberries in a blender, please do not forget to put the lid on, and switch the machine on. Within seconds you will have a strawberry puree. Then add the whipping cream, switch the machine back on, not to long otherwise you will get butter. And finally add the ice cream and switch the machine back on for a few seconds. Place the beaker in the fridge.
When I showed this dessert to one of my trainee chefs, he said: “Oh, it is a milkshake for grown ups”. The truth is, I couldn´t argue against that.
Dress the remaining strawberries in a bowl or deep plate and put pour the sauce over it. I normally serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side and you could garnish with some fresh mint leaves or hierba buena.
